Duirinish Partnership

The High Free Church Stornoway have been partnered up with Duirinish Free Church in Skye for a few years. We have had teams go out to Duirinish to help them with evangelism and events. The link made has also allowed for us to have a connection in prayer for Duirinish Free Church and the Centre for Rural Ministry, as well as for them to pray for us in our challenges.

March 2026 - Week 2

Just a wee update on the praise band's recent trip to Skye to help support the Durinish/Waternish congregations.

They had Jeff and Steve from the Faith Mission up with them. The faith mission had daily outreach meetings preaching the gospel in Glendale community hall….

The praise band left last Thursday morning for our trip - Ullapool to Skye. We had a slight hitch with the camper but it saw us through the trip faithfully - until Spangy turfed us all out one by one when we arrived home late on Monday evening!

All the team got involved with whatever was needed, we started each morning with a prayer meeting with the elders and some of the congregation which was such a blessing for us all!

Lesley and Alyson helped at the kids club on the Friday afternoon where we had 6 children attend. We played games, sang action songs, and had a fun quiz relating to the Bible story that had been told (Zaccheus).

The kids were so engaged. Please pray that what they learned will bless them and that the Lord will work in their young lives.

Spangy went to Christianity Explored and the men's breakfast - which has never had such a high attendance before. Please pray that the numbers continue at that level and increase! It was such an encouragement for Ivor, Donald and Robert!

Spangy, Pauline & Annabel had an impromptu invitation to play at a “Glasgow” wedding - which was certainly an experience for them - but again where the Gospel was preached to unbelievers. Feel free to ask Spangy about the experience!

Two members of the band were asked to share their testimonies of the Lord's work and continuing work in their lives.

On Sunday morning we had two morning services back-to-back with a 40 minute drive in between churches! Ivor does this every Sunday between Durinish and Waternish! Please remember him in prayer as it’s tiring and the roads are awful with many deep lethal potholes - one of which poor Jeff hit and had to get a new tyre fitted midweek!

Our last night was Sunday evening and the three churches had joined together which was the most numbers we’d had all weekend.

We were made aware that there were some unbelievers present and we pray that the lord will work in their lives after hearing the gospel.

Again we were so well-fed by Rosemary and Ivor and so well looked after - it was like being with our extended family! Jonny and Mairi joined us for Sunday lunch and it was so lovely to see them!

It was such a blessing for us all to be a very small part of the mission outreach with all our brothers and sisters in Skye.

There is such a vital need for the Gospel to be shared in Skye and to help support Ivor, Donald and Robert.

If you feel you would be interested in joining the next group going to Skye, please ask any of the team. I know they would be delighted to discuss it with you.

Please pray for the continued friendship, support and blessings between Stornoway and Skye congregations, and for the seed that has been sown to bear fruit.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

Duirinish Partnership - March 2026 - Week 1

Rev Hugh and Murdo Fraser went down to Duirinish to help provide some on the ground support ahead of their visit from the Faith Mission.

Here is a picture of Rev Hugh and Murdo with Rev Ivor MacDonald on a sunny Skye day.

Rev Hugh has said he got soaked while delivering tracts for the upcoming week. However, as we know, it never rains in our part of the world!
