Congratulations to Charlie Nicolson BEM
Congratulations to our dear friend and Deacon, Charlie Nicolson, on being awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his outstanding service to the community.
Last Thursday evening, Charlie was formally presented with the BEM by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of the Western Isles, Mr Iain Macaulay, at a special ceremony held in the MA Hall.
Around 160 of Charlie’s close friends and acquaintances gathered to celebrate with him — many of whom have worked alongside Charlie over the decades on the various groups and committees he has served so faithfully.
Charlie was recognised in this year’s New Year’s Honours List, in recognition of his many years of charitable and voluntary work in our local community.
Over the past six decades, Charlie has served on countless community and charity group committees, and he has also given many years of dedicated service as a local councillor.
Even now, Charlie continues to be very active in his charity work — although perhaps not quite on as many committees as he once was!
We give thanks for Charlie’s faithful service, his heart for people, and the example he sets in showing Christ’s love through practical action and care for others.
Well done, Charlie — richly deserved!
